’Call me Mom’

In the short period of time mum Genevieve Brown entered my life, it appeared to be a lifetime. Losing my biological mom ,at a tender age ,you came into my life and restored it. As I embarked upon my teaching career with limited experience, the journey seemed impossible. However, I was privileged to meet one of your amazing daughters, Jhaneille Downer who later became my mentor. It was not before I observed most of your sterling qualities embedded in her. As our relationship blossomed, Jhaneille invited me to share dwelling with her and her two sisters,Yolande and Tamara. It was nothing but a true family relationship. I Immediately became blessed with three additional sisters in my life. I met mom Genevieve when she made regular visits to see her daughters. It was love upon first sight. You were immediately drawn to me because of my humility and calm disposition. You did not hesitate to welcome me as your daughter. You reassured me that I am your daughter and that you have mothered many motherless children. It meant the world to me because at this time I had no guidance and I had lost hope. Mum Genevieve Brown truly restored my dreams. You continually gave me the affirmation that I will make it.(Shelly my daughter you are going to make it.. she would say) Now here I am in the USA performing a splendid job due to your inspiration and faith you gave. I can recall many mornings , you were the first one up at table drinking your tea. You would spend extended hours shedding your light of all your great work and memories. In my eyes mum you were an Angel that came in everyone’s life and impacted it with greatness. For that,I will always cherish the time you sacrifice to talk with me , listen to me and encourage me. You will always leave an indelible mark that will be in my heart Sleep In Peace sweet Angel. Love you endlessly Daughter Shelly
